How to Use the UnixLinux vi Text Editor eBook Larry Smith
I always knew there is a vi/vim editor available on my Linux install. Up until now, I always used nano editor to edit linux configuration files. This book teaches me how to use vi in a very practical manner. Somehow the author was successful in describing how to use the "editor" without boring the audience. I was at 50% of the book when I stopped reading and started using vi instead of nano. I am finding text editing with vi to be much quicker than using nano. Looking forward to reading the rest.Update - OK now I completed the book and my rating does not change. For 99cents Kindle version, this is a steal for people who know nothing about vi/vim!

How to Use the UnixLinux vi Text Editor eBook Larry Smith Reviews
A great book on the details of the vi Text Editor. It is rich in the details, maybe not for a beginner.
But if you have any experience with VI, you'll be familiar with just about everything in the booklet. It is, however, kinda handy to have around in case you forget exact syntax or such... NOT unhappy with it... =)
It is an excellent reference book. His reading in electronic format greatly facilitates immediate use and timely information on the items that are required to consult.
The content is very well structured for quick and easy reading, timely in its content and useful for advanced users or beginners.
Absolutely awesome VIM reference tool. Easy to read and understand. Clear instructions and I continue to use this and need to reference this book often.
Easy to follow with plenty of examples to help overcome a very steep learning curve. Also great to keep on hand as a reference tool. Thanks for the time & effort to produce this jewel.
I read a lot of technical books. I find many of them have a lot of fluff and or "how-to's" that don't work out. This book is an easy read for a technical book, and gets right to the needs many users have in terms of using vi. I am a very experienced technology and linux veteran, and found it insightful even with my experience. I have added this book to my "keep around all the time" technology book set - a very small group of books on that elite list.
I have worked with vi for a number years, but never delved into it in any depth. I was content to use it for basic editing and use another editor dor anything complex.
Recently, I have had to go back and forth between editors. It just made sense to use one editor if possible. This book was a good review and overview of vi. I plan on using vim, but the lessons in this book carry over to vim as well.
If you are a vi/vim power user, you can skip this book. It is clearly targeted to the newbie or someone like me that needed a refresher before deling deeper.
